About Nicol Hannie

With over three decades of expertise in the senior living industry, Nicol is a seasoned professional in the development and management of Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care communities. His journey began in 1992 as the Executive Director of a small independent living community, where he swiftly achieved full occupancy. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his first retirement community in 1995, initially a 29-unit facility that expanded to 70 units, maintaining a remarkable 97% occupancy over 21 years.

In 2014, Nicol pioneered the first stand-alone memory care facility in Louisiana, a 37-unit community, further cementing his reputation in the field. After selling both communities in 2016, he embarked on his most ambitious project yet: a 46-unit Assisted Living and Memory Care community opened in 2020 amid the Covid pandemic. This venture, marked by its successful navigation through the pandemic and subsequent expansion to 59 additional memory care units, highlights his commitment to excellence and innovation in senior care. Nicol also served on the Louisiana Assisted Living Board of Directors for two years from 2012 through 2013

At the core of his professional philosophy is a deep-seated passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through dignity, kindness, love, and compassion. His approach is rooted in the golden rule of treating others as we wish to be treated ourselves.

Educationally, he is a proud alumnus of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana), where he completed his studies in Business Administration in 1990. A true Ragin Cajun, he is deeply rooted in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he resides with his wife, their five children, three grandchildren, and three rescue cats. Outside of work, Nicol revels in attending sporting events, cooking his renowned gumbo, and cherishing moments with his family.
